The Witches : Shivers

I came upon this Boys Next Door cover by a band called The Witches. They are from Israel and were apparently huge in the early to mid nineties. The lead singer died in a car accident in 1997. Nick Cave does background vocals on this, which is fitting since it is his song. This is a great version of this tune. Very moody, very fitting. I'm going to try and find some of this stuff online. I need to find a good place online to shop for LP's. The Witches translates to Hamechashefot in Israeli. Awesome.

Has Kanye Been Listening to The Kills?

I find this very interesting. Kanye's new single "Love Lockdown" sounds strikingly like The Kills' "Superstition" off of their first record Keep On Your Mean Side. I would also note that the drum line use in Kanye's song mimics the current use of the drumline in The Kills' "Cheap and Cheerfull", off of Midnight Boom. Coincidence? Only Kanye Knows, but i have a hunch. Have a listen for yourselves.

Here is Kanye's single "Love Lockdown" :

Who made who? I find it very interesting and understandible that Kanye would take on this new direction seeing as his life has been a shit storm latley. Cool to know he has been getting into the good shit. I cant wait to hear the rest of this record he has made. Cheers.

Current Favorite Album Covers

I havent heard either of these records. I would not be opposed to it either, but these record covers are fucking excellent. The first one is TI's new release "Paper Trail". Shit is badass and very un hip hop. Props. Second is Jenny Lewis's new record "Acid Tounge". I heard this was actually very good, so i may investigate.

More Alive

Life is funny. I find myself laughing at the most inappropriate times and sometimes I'm too loud. Right now I'm listening to Goats Head Soup and its beautiful. The fan is on, and i am reminded of a phrase a great friend of mine and i used to share. For about a year of our lives we spent the evenings together, walking to the Mobil gas station smoking. We would look up at the moon in awe, thinking "no matter where we are, were all under the same moon". So now i guess, i am reminiscing a bit. Its tough, but its nice.

I think my quest for memories is what drives me. I think in pictures and in frames. I wanna make my memories last on paper, in print, in sound, and in touch. I live for the things that make me smile that no one else can see or ever know. I think people are good at their core and its hard to encounter so many who feel as though they themselves are rotten. Its kind of cool to know that even though things end bad and get rough sometimes, we went through it together and for that moment we were real and we were beautiful.
